2011 GFL
2011 was all about the domination of the Schwabisch Unicorns, as they finished with a perfect 13-0 record, good enough to win the South Conference of the German Football League by two games over the second place Marburg Mercenaries (11-3-0). The North Conference would be a tighter race as the Kiel Hurricanes (12-2-0) finish 1.5 games over the second place Monchengladbach Mavericks (10-3-1). The top four teams in each conference would qualify for the playoffs. In the first round of the playoffs, it was the Kiel Hurricanes over the Munich Cowboys in a rout 45-6, the Schwäbisch Unicorns would do the same to the Berlin Adler 53-27, the Mönchengladbach Mavericks would roll over the Stuttgart Scorpions 43-17, and the Düsseldorf Panther would win the only close game of the first round over the Marburg Mercenaries 14-10. In the Semi-Finals it was the Kiel Hurricanes cruising past the Düsseldorf Panther 45-21, while the Schwäbisch Unicorns would do the same to the Mönchengladbach Mavericks 47-21, setting up the match-up for German Bowl XXXIII. German Bowl XXXIII was played On October 8, 2011, at the MDCC Arena in Magdeburg, Germany. The Unicorns would go on to win a shootout 48-44 over the Hurricanes to claim the German Football League championship. The MVP would go to quarterback Aaron Boehme who finished 18-28 for 230 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
