In 2011, division winners in the AFC were New England in the East, Baltimore in the North, Houston in the South, and Denver in the West, with the Wild-Cards going to Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. In the NFC, it was New York in the East, Green Bay in the North, New Orleans in the South, and San Francisco in the West, with the Wild-Cards going to Detroit and Atlanta. AFC Wild-Card winners were the Texans over Bengals 31-10, while the Broncos took care of the Steelers 29-23 in overtime. In the NFC, it was the Giants all over the Falcons 24-2, and the Saints overwhelming the Lions 45-28. In the AFC Divisional Playoffs, it was the Ravens over the Texans 20-13, while the Patriots routed the Broncos 45-10. In the NFC, it was the Giants upsetting the Packers 37-20, while the 49ers squeaked by the Saints 36-32. In the Conference Championship games, it was the Cinderella Giants, once again upsetting the 49ers 20-17 in overtime, while the Patriots won a close one against the Ravens 23-20, setting up the match-ups for Super Bowl XLVI. The game was played on February 5, 2012, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the first time that the Super Bowl was played in the state of Indiana. The Giants defeated the Patriots by the score of 21–17. The Giants jumped to a 9–0 lead in the first quarter of Super Bowl XLVI before the Patriots scored 17 unanswered points to take a 17–9 lead in the third quarter. But the Giants prevented the Patriots from scoring again, and two consecutive New York field goals chipped away New England's lead, 17–15, late in the third quarter. The Giants capped off an 88-yard drive with running back Ahmad Bradshaw's 6-yard game-winning touchdown with 57 seconds left in the game. Eli Manning, who completed 30 of 40 passes for 296 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions, was named Super Bowl MVP for the second time in his career. He became the third consecutive quarterback to win the award after Aaron Rodgers in Super Bowl XLV and Drew Brees in Super Bowl XLIV.
