2020 NFL

In 2020, division winners in the AFC were Buffalo in the East, Pittsburgh in the North, Tennessee in the South, and Kansas City in the West, with the Wild-Cards going to Baltimore, Cleveland, and Indianapolis.  In the NFC, it was Washington in the East, Green Bay in the North, New Orleans in the South, and Seattle in the West, with the Wild-Cards going to Chicago, Tampa Bay, and Los Angeles.  As with all of the other Major sports, the Corona Virus wreaked havoc everywhere.  It was a very challenging year, but the NFL managed to play all of the games, a major feat in itself.  Both Conferences added one Wild-Card Playoff spot to accommodate the difficulties of the Corona Virus, and each Conference had only one playoff bye, the top seed in each Conference.  In the first round of the AFC Playoffs, it was Buffalo over Indianapolis 27-24, Baltimore over Tennessee 20-13, and Cleveland over Pittsburgh 48-37.  In the NFC, it was Los Angeles over Seattle 30-20, Tampa Bay over Washington 31-23 and New Orleans over Chicago 21-9.  In the AFC Divisional Playoffs, it was Buffalo over Baltimore 17-3 and Kansas City over Cleveland 22-17, despite the Chiefs' QB Patrick Mahomes missing most of the second half due to a concussion.  In the NFC, it was Green Bay over Los Angeles 32-18, while Tampa Bay would pull off the upset over New Orleans 30-20 in what would turn out to be Saints' QB Drew Brees' final game of his Hall-of-Fame career.  In the AFC Championship game it was Kansas City rolling over Buffalo 38-24, despite falling behind 9-0 early in the first quarter. Meanwhile in the NFC, it was Tom Brady up to his old tricks by bucking the odds and leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the favored Green Bay Packers 31-26, setting up the match-up for Super Bowl 55.  The game took place on February 7, 2021, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, the home stadium of the Buccaneers, marking the first time that a team played a Super Bowl in its home stadium. Due to COVID-19 protocols limiting the stadium's seating
capacity to 25,000 fans, it was the least-attended Super Bowl. Tom Brady in his first season away from the New England Patriots, who at 43 years old, became the oldest player ever to appear in a Super Bowl game. Kansas City entered the game favored to win, but were undone by offensive struggles and costly penalties. For the first time under quarterback and reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs failed to score a touchdown and lost by double-digits, making them also the third Super Bowl team to not score a touchdown. They committed 11 penalties for 120 yards, including a record eight penalties for 95 yards in the first half, most of which were called againstthe defense. The Buccaneers capitalized on these mistakes to take a commanding 21–6 lead at halftime and remained in control for the rest of the game. Brady, who also extended his player records for Super Bowl appearances at 10 and wins at seven, was named Super Bowl MVP for a record fifth time and was the first to receive the award with multiple franchises. He became the oldest player to receive the honor and win a Super Bowl as the starting quarterback, breaking additional personal records, while Bruce Arians was the oldest head coach to win the Super Bowl at 68.
