In 2007, conference winners in the German Football League were the Braunschweig Lions (11-0-1) in the North Conference, with a comfortable 3.5 game lead over the second place Berlin Adler (8-4-0). Meanwhile in the South Conference, it was the Stuttgart Scorpions (10-2-0) winning a much tighter race over the second place Marburg Mercenaries (9-2-1). The top four teams from each conference qualify for the playoffs, and the right to compete for 29th German Bowl Championship. In the first round of the playoffs, it was the Braunschweig Lions over the Weinheim Longhorns 55-26, the Stuttgart Scorpions over the Hamburg Blue Devils 27-17, the Berlin Adler over the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns 23-3, and the Marburg Mercenaries over the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes 21-16. In the Semi-Final round it was the Braunschweig Lions over Marburg Mercenaries 26-21, and the Stuttgart Scorpions over the Berlin Adler 19-14, setting up the match-up for German Bowl XXIX. German Bowl XXIX was the 29th edition of the German Bowl final of the highest quality American football league in Germany, the German Football League (GFL). It took place on October 6, 2007, in front of 8,152 spectators, in the Stuttgart Gazi Stadium . The Braunschweig Lions would use a stingy defense to completely dominate the game. Stuttgart would not score until late in the fourth quarter, and the Lions would go on to win 27-6, and lay claim to their sixth German Football League Championship. The game's Most Valuable Player would go to the Lions Quarterback Dennis Zimmerman.
